Type Locality and Naming

The type section lies at Wenquangou, southeast of Lungmu Co, Rutog County, Tibet. It was named by Zhang Bingao et al. in 1984.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. A suite of carbonate rocks. Lower part consists of gray moderately thick-bedded limestone; Upper part is of gray-white massive limestone and gray-black thin-bedded clayey limestone, with dark purple quartz sandstone at top. Thickness >66 m.

Fossils

Lower part yields Fusulinids Triticites altus, Boultonia willsi, Pseudofusulina ovata and Schwagerina guembeli pseudoregularis. Upper part limestone contains Bryozoans Meekopora rutogensis, Goniocladia indica, Fenestella perelegans and Polypora sinovaricellata, as well as Brachiopod Ortheteles sp.,
